Lent consists of the forty days between Ash Wednesday and Easter Sunday. During Lent, individuals give up something in order to spend more time with the Lord. This six-week study will help us understand Lent and focus on its important aspects and practices, including prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. I pray that this Bible study, which includes a lesson for each week within the Lenten timeframe, will help you spiritually prepare your heart for Easter and the year beyond.

Lent is a 40-day journey (not counting Sundays) of six weeks, designed to help us focus on walking spiritually with Jesus on his way to the cross so we’ll be prepared to celebrate his resurrection on Easter. Reading Scripture from the Bible during Lent helps us pay close attention to the journey Jesus took as our Savior, as well as to the journey that Jesus is calling us to take in our lives to grow spiritually. Every Bible passage that relates to Lent can help us connect more closely with Jesus as we reflect on what he did for us, why it matters, and how it can empower us today.God promises in Jeremiah 29:13: “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” Following a Scripture reading plan for Lent can help us seek God wholeheartedly and discover new aspects of who he is that inspire us and motivate us to grow closer to him.
