Ending September with Steady Hope | Your Nightly Prayer

Maybe the month began with plans, goals, and renewed motivation, but now you're looking back at unfinished projects, unexpected problems, difficult relationships, financial stress, or prayers that still seem unanswered. You may even feel two things at once: grateful for what God has done and disappointed by what didn't happen.
In this Your Nightly Prayer devotional, Amber Ginter reflects on Isaiah 26:4 and the reminder that the Lord Himself is our “Rock eternal.” Our circumstances can shift quickly. Plans change, emotions fluctuate, relationships surprise us, and even our best efforts don't guarantee the outcomes we hoped for. God's character, however, does not change with the calendar. He remains a steady foundation when everything around us feels uncertain.
As September comes to a close and October begins, this is an opportunity to examine what you're carrying forward. Your hope does not depend on how productive you were this month, how many boxes you checked, whether everything worked out, or whether you reached every goal. You can acknowledge disappointment without allowing disappointment to become your foundation. You can celebrate growth without making success the source of your security.
Before stepping into a new month, bring God what September held—the good, the painful, the unfinished, and the unexpected. Release what you cannot change, thank Him for the ways He sustained you, and ask Him to steady your heart for whatever comes next. A new month does not guarantee easier circumstances, but you can enter it anchored to the same faithful God who carried you through the last one.
