The Nicene Creed from, The Book of Concord of Confessions, http//www.bookofconcord.org.info.php, is part of the 3 Ecumenical Confessions that most Christians can agree on, thus they are called ecumenical. This enhances the Apostle's Creed, but leaves out Jesus Christs' descent into Hell. It describes the 3 personalities of the Godhead, the One God of Christianity & mentions the practice of baptism.

The church needs doctrines & beliefs that honor & copy Jesus' teachings. Like a ship lost at sea without a compass is a modern church without these three Creeds & the teachings of Jesus Christ.
