"Holy Communion, Batman!" At the "Last Supper," was Jesus instituting a ritual, or was he saying that we can use our incessant desire for food and drink to remind us of the joy of assimilating his words that give us true life? The next time you make a total commitment to becoming one with a cheeseburger, remember Jesus' commitment to becoming one with you.

Christians are partakers of the divine nature, sons and daughters of God, and brothers and sisters of Jesus Christ. Within that divine nature is the inherent tendency to give cheerfully from the limitless reservoir of God's grace. When we understand that we were bought with a price, the blood of Christ, we know that we ourselves, and all we have, belongs to God. Then we give all we can, joyously, in response to a blessing, and we sow our seed on good ground.

The Heat is On
1 John 5:19 says that the whole world is under the influence of the Devil. There is much talk among Christians about the "last days," but few define the term biblically, as this teaching does. The world stood still for a short moment. News reports described a horrific scene at a Connecticut elementary school. The report stated that a young man in a bulletproof vest forced his way into Sandy Hook Elementary School and opened fire inside two classrooms. According to the Associated Press, the young man was identified as 20-year-old Adam Lanza.
Lanza's mother was a teacher at the elementary school and was not at the school that day. However, it would be later reported that Lanza also shot and killed his mother in the home they shared. Lanza reportedly killed 26 people on Friday December 14, 2012, just days before Christmas. Twenty children and six adults fell victim to Lanza's attack.

10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. 11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; 13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. 14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. 16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? 17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

12 Now the sons of Eli were sons of Belial; they knew not the LORD. 13 And the priests' custom with the people was, that, when any man offered sacrifice, the priest's servant came, while the flesh was in seething, with a fleshhook of three teeth in his hand; 14 And he struck it into the pan, or kettle, or caldron, or pot; all that the fleshhook brought up the priest took for himself. So they did in Shiloh unto all the Israelites that came thither. 15 Also before they burnt the fat, the priest's servant came, and said to the man that sacrificed, Give flesh to roast for the priest; for he will not have sodden flesh of thee, but raw. 16 And if any man said unto him, Let them not fail to burn the fat presently, and then take as much as thy soul desireth; then he would answer him, Nay; but thou shalt give it me now: and if not, I will take it by force. 17 Wherefore the sin of the young men was very great before the LORD: for men abhorred the offering of the LORD.
