Teaching

Grace Point Church - Sunday Sermon for November 30, 2014 Thanksgiving is more than a holiday - it is a choice that we can make. Derek Gietzen explores what the Bible has to say about giving thanks and provides some practical steps for cultivating a thankful heart.

The BioLogos group is seeking to persuade pastors to support an evolutionary view of human origins, suggesting that if Adam and Eve did exist, they were one of thousands of people from whom we all evolved. This viewpoint, supported by some very powerful influences, is in direct contrast with the clear teaching of the Bible and the historic confession of the church. Watch as Pastor MacLaren comments on the Westminster Confession of Faith, 6:1, as it begins a discussion on the origins of human sin and misery. This commentary was provided during the Sunday Worship Service of First Presbyterian Church in Perkasie, Pennsylvania, on November 30, 2014. First Church is a member of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church. The Rev. R. Scott MacLaren is the pastor.

"Get a life" is God's basic message to every human being who is born. Huh? Doesn't their birth give them life? Only temporarily, and usually with eventually diminishing quality. See why the Bible can be summed up in 4.8 seconds as: "the story of two men--the first guy wrecked everything, the second guy is fixing it."

"Are you saved, brother? From WHAT? The biblical answer is SIN and DEATH. Scripturally, salvation has a past, present, and future aspect. Our salvation will not be consummated until Jesus comes and gives us a new body, but in this earthen vessel he has given us a "guarantee of life" in the Paradise yet to come.

Most people know that it takes money to run a ministry that spreads the Gospel, and it is easy to give when you give in response to what a man or a ministry does that truly touches your life. God does not tell Christians how much to give because He is desires RELATIONSHIP, and wants us to work with Him in deciding what to give to whom. Then it is easy to be a cheerful giver, and watch God multiply it back to you.
