Witchcraft Disguised as Prayer Part 3: Signs, Omens, and Fleeces

Don't forget to grab your free scripture journal at PrayingChristianWomen.com/journal today!

What happens when our desire for spiritual answers crosses the line into relying on superstitious signs and omens?

In this episode, Jaime and Alana dive into the fascinating—and sometimes confusing—topic of modern "witchy" practices, specifically exploring how New Age language and concepts are subtly seeping into Christian culture. They discuss the critical difference between genuinely seeking the Holy Spirit's guidance and trying to take spiritual shortcuts, diving into the biblical boundaries that are designed to protect us from looking for answers in the wrong places.

Alana highlights the historical context of Israel's pagan surroundings and the concept of "plundering the Egyptians," sparking a deeper conversation about how we can sift out helpful, practical tools without adopting corrupted spiritual foundations. Meanwhile, Jaime opens up about a time she desperately wanted a definitive sign regarding whether to homeschool her sixth grader, illustrating how easily our hearts can slip into treating God like a magic 8-ball when we are desperate for a clear outcome.

Along the way, they swap practical wisdom on navigating the gray areas of daily decision-making. From the absurdity of casting a Monopoly die to hear from the Lord, to the surprisingly helpful family practice of flipping a coin simply to reveal your own subconscious desires, they offer a discerning yet grace-filled perspective on untangling God's voice from our own inner will—and trusting that He will meet us where we are.

Whether you are worried about accidentally overstepping into superstition, struggling with a major life choice and wishing you could lay out a "Gideon's fleece," or simply need a reminder that you already have the Holy Spirit and God's Word to guide you, we hope this episode encourages you to examine your heart, expect God's guidance, and confidently seek His wisdom.

When You Feel Like You’ve Lost Yourself | Your Daily Prayer

Have you ever looked in the mirror and wondered where the old you went?

Life has a way of wearing us down through stress, disappointment, grief, and constant responsibilities. Before long, we can forget who God created us to be. Today’s prayer reminds us that our identity isn’t found in our circumstances but in Christ, who gives us strength and reminds us we are deeply loved.

Challenge: Today, pause for five minutes and ask God to remind you who you are in Him. Write down one truth from Scripture about your identity and carry it with you throughout the day.

If this prayer encouraged you, leave a comment letting us know how we can pray for you.

It's Our Turn Founder Beijing Caspian Shares Her Mission to Reach Youth for Christ

Beijing Caspian, the founder of the global humanitarian organization It’s Our Turn, revealed how a childhood calling opened doors to bring hope, compassion, and the gospel to youth and marginalized communities. Beijing sat down with interviewer Janna Bailey to discuss everything she and her team are doing to transform the lives of young people through outreach and orphanage ministries. Watch this powerful interview to learn about a fantastic institution that uses global missions to reach children for Christ.

The Hope Tour is a school outreach initiative that brings together teams to visit marginalized high schools all around the world. For marginalized youth, there is no bigger need than love, safety, and hope. Considering how many young people are currently facing a dark, gloomy climate of violence and suicide in the Bahamas, what would happen if someone used a school tour for an eternal, life-changing purpose? That is exactly what Beijing is doing with Its Our Turn.

The Hope Tour is an initiative to spread the gospel directly into local school systems. Over a brief five-day period permitted by the government, more than 1,200 students and a teacher stepped forward to give their lives to Christ. "And that gave me hope, and that gave my entire team hope," she said. She added how these powerful moments provide national television and the entire country with a tangible reminder that Jesus is the true focus required to build a better land.

Additionally, Beijing shared her powerful testimony about how, as a four-year-old child on her very first mission trip, she came to know Christ. She stated that her journey toward starting a nonprofit organization began with a strong inner desire to reconcile the wealth of her home with the deep poverty she witnessed while serving young people in vacation Bible schools abroad. Following two straight years of praying purely for God's will, she distinctly heard the voice of the Lord tell her to lead the youth. After consulting with her mother, she chose the name It's Our Turn to signify a new generation of young people taking the banner to make a real difference.

She mentioned that, in addition to carrying out this work, she relies heavily on strict personal discipline to keep her platforms focused entirely on God rather than personal fame. "Every time I'm on a platform or on a stage, those people just see the light, and they see Jesus," Beijing said. To maintain her balance while juggling the ministry, a local café, and coaching, she stays anchored through a sacred morning routine of early prayer, intense physical exercise for mental clarity, and dedicated Bible study.

In addition to the outreach ministry, Beijing also talked about the wonderful, life-changing things happening on the orphanage side of It's Our Turn. The organization is currently working to secure government land to build its first orphanage facility in the Bahamas, actively raising a $500,000 budget to see the project through. Beyond construction, they adopt existing international orphanages and supply direct training to local citizens to offer discipleship and mental health support.

A Prayer Because You Don’t Know How to Pray Anymore

Some seasons leave us with no words.

Today’s prayer reminds us that even when we don’t know how to pray, the Holy Spirit intercedes for us. If you’re weary, discouraged, or emotionally exhausted, this prayer offers hope and the reminder that God still hears every silent cry.

We Can't Even Imagine It

He stopped mid-stride, turned and looked in my eyes as though he couldn't comprehend the question. He had no words. I waited a few beats and asked several more times in several different ways. Still nothing. Finally, I offered, "You can't even imagine it, can you?"

Praying Through Psalm 9: Praise as a Weapon in the Pit

What happens when we find ourselves at the absolute end of ourselves, caught between overwhelming grief and the need for God's justice? How can praise become our greatest weapon when we are sitting in the pit of despair?

In this prayerful Psalm 9 meditation, Jaime leads us through a quiet, reflective time of releasing our daily burdens, confession, repentance, Scripture reading, and prayer. This episode turns our hearts toward the unshakable nature of God's justice and the profound power of worshiping Him in all seasons.

Psalm 9 is a deeply unique psalm of thanksgiving, written with the mysterious instruction "Muth Laban"—often translated as "death of the son." Whether David was celebrating the triumphant defeat of an enemy like Goliath or mourning the devastating loss of his own son Absalom, he chose to lift his eyes and exalt the Lord. For believers today, it carries a vital truth: choosing to declare God's wonders, even when we feel depleted or weighed down, is a spiritual weapon that sends shockwaves through the enemy's camp.

Jaime reflects on the beautiful Hebrew imagery of God as our Misgab—our stronghold, high tower, and fortress. She invites us to leave the heavy baggage and petty strife of the world down below and step into the elevated protection of our heavenly Father, where the enemy's attacks simply cannot reach us.

Take a few moments to breathe deeply, quiet your heart, confess what God brings to the surface, and remember: the victory is already won, and you can always climb into the safe, high refuge of His presence.

Praying Through Psalm 8: Awe in God's Creation

Don't forget to grab your free scripture journal at PrayingChristianWomen.com/journal today!

What happens when the problems of the world feel too big, the guilt of our shortcomings weighs us down, and the sheer scale of the universe makes us feel painfully small?

In this prayerful Psalm 8 meditation, Jaime leads us through a quiet, reflective time of confession, repentance, Scripture reading, and prayer. This episode turns our hearts away from heavy burdens and condemnation, focusing instead on the majestic glory of our Creator and the intimate, intentional care He has for His children.

Psalm 8 is a breathtaking song of pure praise, standing as a bright spot that marvels at the intricacies of God's handiwork. When we look up at the night sky, the vastness of space can sometimes feel scary or overwhelming. But for believers, this psalm carries a deeply comforting reminder: the almighty God who ordained the moon and the stars—who is greater than the universe itself—chooses to engage with us, love us, and crown us with dignity.

Jaime shares a vulnerable, personal confession about the struggles of intentional parenting and the vital difference between enemy-driven guilt and Holy Spirit-led conviction. Reflecting on a starry-night conversation with her daughter and her own background in science, she introduces the concept of "TMTC"—too many to count, and too much to comprehend. She invites us to let the incomprehensible greatness of God shift our perspective and shrink the worldly burdens we carry.

Take a few moments to breathe deeply, quiet your heart, confess what God brings to the surface, and remember: His grace is too much to comprehend, and our God is infinitely bigger than any problem we face.
