The supremely talented brother duo demonstrated their fancy footwork to an Irish cover of the classic song from the late King of Pop. Many people can dance. They have been blessed with smooth and fluid moves perfect for the dance floor. Some people are just born with that talent, appearing as if they are naturals and entirely in their element when it comes to dancing. All they need is some good music to groove to, and they can take care of the rest.

Unfortunately, I'm not one of those people. I'll admit I was not given a gift for dancing. I understand where I belong, and it most certainly is not out on the dance floor. That does not bother me in the slightest. I am perfectly content, as I'm sure other people who also lack the kind of coordination and confidence the dance floor requires are. Watching from the sidelines isn’t so bad!

The Gardiner brothers are two people who have a natural talent for dance and have repeatedly shown that with their many videos posted on social media. In one of their latest clips, the gifted siblings strut their stuff with a highly choreographed number to Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal." But this is not just any version of the 1987 tune; it's infused with an Irish sound and feel.

The video's opening moments mention that the song is performed on a fiddle. I've never heard the tune performed that way, and I have to say that while it is different and a significant departure from the norm, I rather enjoy it.

Nearly every person who has ever picked up a musical instrument has performed, or at least tried to, a cover. Even the most prominent, most beloved musicians of all time have done covers at one time. Covers are a widely accepted, time-honored practice and tradition. It’s almost become a way to honor and recognize the work of others.

However, for covers to work correctly and to be enjoyed by all, they must be covering songs that most people are familiar with and know well. Playing an Aerosmith, an Elton John or a Fleetwood Mac deep track that most people, unless you’re a massive fan of those bands, do not know simply will not work. Regarding covers, it’s always best to stick to the hits.

There are several choices when it comes to covering the work of Electric Light Orchestra. There is “Evil Woman,” “Livin’ Thing,” “Sweet Talkin’ Woman” and “Don’t Bring Me Down.” However, the one that likely immediately comes to most people’s minds when considering ELO is “Mr. Blue Sky.” I know that’s the song I most closely associate with them.

In a clip posted on YouTube, a young woman turned in an outstanding instrumental cover of “Mr. Blue Sky.” Sticking to the hits becomes all the more important when performing instrumental versions of them. Of course, that’s because the familiar lyrics have been removed.

This is a fantastic performance. You’ll almost assuredly be singing along as you watch the young woman’s hands dance along the keys as she mouths the lyrics everyone knows and loves.

What an incredible performance! Emily’s voice is heavenly to listen to, and many people online have shared how much they love her rendition of ‘You’re Still The One’ as well as her other covers.

Now, when it comes to the song ‘You’re Still The One’ by Shania Twain, the piano-driven country pop ballad was recorded for Shania’s third studio album titled Come On Over. It was written by Shania and her then-husband and producer Robert John "Mutt" Lange. In 1999, the song garnered four Grammy nominations, including Record of the Year and Song of the Year, and it won Best Country Song and Best Female Country Vocal Performance.

Musical covers are not going anywhere. No, I’m not talking about covers with musical notes or song lyrics sewn onto them, although having one of them would be pretty cool, too. What I’m talking about are bands and musicians performing songs originally written and performed by others.

Covers are a popular, time-honored tradition and practice that has likely been happening since music has been a thing. Who doesn’t want to hear another musician’s interpretation of a beloved tune? Some of them are great, and on the rarest of occasions, even surpass the original, while others are horrible and should not be thought of or spoken of again. A clip posted on YouTube is of a cover song everyone knows and loves, and it's one that you’ll return to repeatedly.
 
The Feelgood Orchestra took a swing at “Never Gonna Give You Up,” and they connected in a big way, knocking it completely out of the park. This is an outstanding cover.
 
One could argue that they were setting themselves up for failure because the song is so widely known. That tune spans generations. You know the song and lyrics even if you aren’t aware of it. The song even spawned a popular saying/internet prank. Have you ever been tricked into clicking on a link only to be taken to the “Never Gonna Give You Up” video? Dance is an art form that often requires years of hard work, perseverance and study. It’s arguably the most challenging of the art forms. So much so that even after putting all that time and effort into becoming a better dancer, one may still only be mildly passable.

However, while some may invest a lot of energy and time into becoming better dancers, most people don’t, and that is perfectly fine, too. For most people, dance is about feeling the music, moving to the beat and having a good time. Let’s be honest: It’s nearly physically impossible to keep from dancing when a select few songs are played. Whenever these handful of songs begin, you know that people will be out on the dance floor in a matter of seconds.

A clip posted on YouTube captures people dancing around in a Walmart location to one of those tunes: Earth, Wind & Fire’s “September.” It doesn’t matter what month it is; if that song plays, people will surely be dancing.

The young man in the video, who is joyously dancing around in the store, finds his way to several people and gets them to dance around with him. Even those who initially appeared reluctant and apprehensive to show everyone their moves eventually came around and hopped around to the beat of the classic song.

One Walmart employee even temporarily joined in on the fun, at least for a few seconds.

Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams” gets a violin makeover by a talented teen. She played the classic and beloved tune beautifully, making it a rendition that you’ll return to repeatedly. Watch the short and delightful clip to listen to her jaw-dropping cover of “Dreams” by Fleetwood Mac.

When it comes to music, it really doesn’t get much bigger than Fleetwood Mac. They are a legendary rock band, responsible for some of the most iconic tunes of all time. Due mainly to Steve Nicks’ distinct and unique voice, their unmistakable sound is recognizable from a mile away. Surprisingly, they remain fairly active even after decades together, playing shows throughout the country and world.

Fleetwood Mac has an endless catalogue of songs, with one hit after another. “Go Your Own Way,” “Rhiannon,” “Gypsy” and “Landslide” are just a few of their tunes, which are instantly recognizable and loved by millions all over the world. Not only do people love listening to them play their hits, but many also enjoy covers of their songs, including one by a gifted young woman.

In the clip posted on YouTube, Karolina Protsenko performs Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams.” But instead of singing the words originally written and performed by Stevie Nicks, Karolina discards the familiar lyrics entirely. Instead, she delivers an awe-inspiring violin instrumental. It’s a lovely version of this tune from 1977.

While everyone is used to the lyrics being sung out by one of the most legendary singers in music history, there is still plenty to love about Karolina’s version of “Dreams.” Her performance is spot-on, nailing every note. Even the most ardent and rabid Fleetwood Mac fans will appreciate this instrumental version.

Also, no one will miss the lyrics not being sung because more than likely, they’ll add their own vocal track and sing along as Karolina expertly plays her violin.

This powerful ‘A Natural Woman’ duet on The Voice does more than wow; it stuns! I’ll be honest, I missed the live show last night. But thank God for the gift of the internet, because this morning I stumbled upon a clip that stopped me in my tracks.

Two names: Natalia Albertini and Yoshihanaa.

Their performance of ‘(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman’ on The Voice Battles was nothing short of breathtaking. I clicked play, and within seconds, I couldn’t move. Their voices blended so beautifully it felt like two colors of silk being woven together — one thread soft and soulful, the other bold and radiant.

You could hear the years of passion, the discipline, the faith behind the notes. It was more than music, honestly, it was a moment.

Yoshihanaa’s effortless range was stunning. As one fan wrote, “Yoshi did this without even trying — and you could tell she was holding back, too.” Another added, “She was already my favorite audition of the season, but she didn’t have to eat the performance up like that. What a talent!”

And yet, Natalia held her own with such grace and emotion that it brought a lump to my throat. Her voice may not have soared quite as high, but it reached deep. As one viewer said, “Natalia sang her heart out. She couldn’t compete on range and power, but she gave a better performance in terms of emotional connection to the song and heart. Absolutely worth a save.”

Even Snoop Dogg, their coach, couldn’t let her go. After declaring Yoshihanaa the winner, he used his only Battle Save of the season to keep Natalia, because what they created together was too special to end.

And it truly was. Their harmonies felt like church —a beautiful blend of power and praise, strength and surrender.

As I sat there this morning, coffee growing cold beside me, I just whispered, “Thank You, Lord. Thank You for music that moves the soul. Thank You for artists who pour out their hearts. Thank You for the internet that lets us see light and art and glory like this, even when we missed it live.”

Because this stunning duet between two women giving it everything they’ve got might just be my new favorite version of ‘A Natural Woman.’

It’s a reminder that God still works through harmony, humility, and the beauty of shared gifts.

Have you watched this stunning ‘Fooled Around and Fell in Love’ duet on The Voice? You definitely don’t want to miss it! I didn’t get to catch The Voice live, life gets busy, and sometimes the dishes, the laundry, and everything else take over the evening. But thank the Lord for the gift of the internet, because I got to sit down this morning with a cup of coffee and watch Aaron Nichols and Daron Lameek absolutely nail their duet of ‘Fooled Around and Fell in Love.’

And let me tell you — I was floored.

It’s one of the best parts of watching the show online; you get all those powerful, goosebump-inducing moments in short clips. Just enough to make your heart swell and remind you how much joy music can bring. Watching these two sing together was pure delight. Their voices blended together like honey and smoke, smooth, soulful, and strong.

The way Aaron and Daron traded lines, smiled, and encouraged each other mid-song? Oh how I loved it! You could feel the fun they were having, and it drew you right in.

Honestly, they were jaw-dropping together. I hope they decide to collaborate again someday, because the Lord knows their fans would love it and so would I. It was that good.

When the judges’ reactions flashed across the screen, wide eyes, nodding heads, grins that said yes, this is special, I found myself smiling right along with them.

It’s moments like these that make me so grateful for the beauty of music and for the chance to catch glimpses of it, even after the live lights fade. Two voices, one stage, and a song that reminds us how deeply joy and talent can move a soul.

The Beatles are easily the most influential band of all time. Decades after they broke up, their music is still played endlessly on the radio and everywhere else. Even if you aren’t a fan of The Beatles (like me), it’s hard to deny their continued influence on music and musicians. The Beatles essentially invented modern pop music, with everything else that’s come after heavily borrowing from their work. That’s incredibly impressive, considering the Beatles broke up in the 1970s.

Since their songs are beloved worldwide, they are popular targets for covers, including “Let It Be.” However, this one goes in a decidedly different direction than you have ever heard before. It’s a country version, and surprisingly, it works to great effect.

If someone had told me to listen to a country rendition of “Let It Be,” I would have immediately passed, believing it would be horrible. And, well, I would have been very wrong, and this is coming from someone who is not a country music nor a Beatles fan.

It’s fantastic and likely to be one you return to repeatedly.  I understand that nothing will ever top the original, but this one is still pretty good, especially as far as covers go.

A trio delivered a jaw-dropping “Don’t You (Forget About Me)” performance on The Voice. It was a fantastic rendition from the three incredibly talented vocalists. Watch the short clip to listen to this delightful cover performance of the classic 1980s tune “Don’t You (Forget About Me).”

Many things in popular culture become closely associated with the time period and era in which they were released. It’s absolutely true. Think about it for a second. When someone mentions bell-bottom pants, airplane shirt collars or disco balls, you’ll immediately think of the 1970s. Likewise, lava lamps, poodle skirts and go-go boots are synonymous with the 1960s.

When it comes to the 1980s, many likely immediately jump to the popular films of that decade. “Pretty in Pink,” “Sixteen Candles” and “St. Elmo’s Fire” were all released in the 1980s. However, arguably the one most closely associated with cinema in the 1980s was “The Breakfast Club.” And it’s impossible to talk about that film without Simple Minds’ tune “Don’t You Forget (About Me).”

In a clip posted on YouTube, three contestants looking to continue impressing on The Voice took a swing at the 1985 song. And it was an absolute home run, delighting all four judges and the studio audience. Even if you do not like the original song, there is much to love about this immensely enjoyable cover.

Following the outstanding performance, all four judges sang their praises, showering them with compliment after compliment.  Snoop Dogg compared their rendition of the song heard at the end of “The Breakfast Club” to a “drive-in movie.”

“Man, that was groovy like a drive-in movie,” he said. “Oh, man, the way y’all work together, y’all look like a group.”

In the end, though, while everyone loved the performance, someone had to go home, and Reba was left to make that difficult decision.

With the proliferation of social media platforms such as TikTok, Facebook and Instagram, they will only continue to grow. On YouTube, there are hundreds, possibly even thousands, of pages full of nothing but videos where people perform other highly recognizable, beloved songs.

While covers are here to stay. That doesn’t just mean covers have to be nothing but duplicates and carbon copies of the original version. In fact, it’s actually better if some originality and artistry are included in a cover. That will only make them better. It helps them stand out while remaining true to the original song.

In a clip posted on YouTube, one person performs Frank Sinatra’s “My Way.” This is a song that you are likely more than familiar with, as it’s been around for quite some time. However, instead of simply singing the song, trying to imitate Frank’s unmistakable voice and musical style, this musician removes all those words.

This version is a stupendous instrumental, with the musician playing the tune we all know and love. Additionally, graphics are added at the top of the screen, as if the excellent piano performance wasn’t enough to keep you watching. They continually fall toward the screen, resembling a game of Tetris.

Frank Sinatra’s “My Way” is a tune that doesn’t need the words added because, like most people, you’re likely adding your vocals whenever you listen to it.

A young woman delights with her charming cover of “Take Me Home, Country Roads.” This spectacular rendition of the John Denver classic will have you singing along. Most people love traveling, going on vacation and experiencing new things. It’s an opportunity to get away from the familiar and the everyday and see what else the world has to offer. The world is full of incredible, breathtaking sights, sounds, tastes and smells, but unfortunately, we only have so much money and vacation days.

However, regardless of how much we might enjoy getting away and getting some rest and relaxation, eventually, we’ll long for the familiar. We’ll wish we were home, to the place where we’re most comfortable and know best. As anyone who has been away from their home and their loved ones for an extended time knows, homesickness is real.

Even people who aren’t John Denver fans or don’t particularly appreciate country/folk music still know and appreciate that tune. How can you not? Oh friend, you have to see this—because I’m still smiling, still tapping my foot, and maybe even humming under my breath like it’s 1952 again. You can’t help but watch REO Speedwagon’s ‘Take It On The Run’ as it gets a fun 60s girl group makeover. 

I stumbled upon something that felt like discovering an old record player in the attic—dusty, charming, full of nostalgia—and the moment the needle dropped, it transported me straight back to the golden age of swing and sass. It’s Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox performing one of our favorite hits of all time—and it’s pure, glittering magic. 

From the first note, you’re swept into a technicolor world where every hemline swishes, the dresses are vivid greens and buttery satins, and the hairstyles curl just so—like a scene from a 1940s supper club where the air hums with brass and laughter. The song ‘Lonely Teardrops’ was written by Berry Gordy Jr., Gwen Gordy, and Roquel "Billy" Davis, and it was first recorded and released as a single in 1958 by R&B singer Jackie Wilson. It became such a big hit, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame named ‘Lonely Teardrops’ one of the "Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll". Then in 1999, the song was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.

On The Voice, Elias Gomez covers the song in his own way, and the judges – Reba McEntire, Snoop Dogg, Michael Bublé, and Niall Horan – were all very impressed.

“I’ve got one space left, and I was like, ‘Let this last space be for the king, for the star,’” shared Michael Bublé. “And then I’m back there and I hear a dude take a Jackie Wilson song, and you crushed it. Jackie Wilson is looking down, and he’s going like, ‘Mm-hmm.’”

Snoop Dogg shared how he really enjoyed the uniqueness of the performance. “I know that record, but I’ve never heard it sung in that style, and you were really good at doing it,” he said. “No matter what team you end up on, I think you’re gonna be in great hands, because you’re on a show with people that really enjoy people like you and what you do.”

All four coaches turned their chairs around for a contestant’s electrifying performance on The Voice. The young woman’s dazzling and jaw-dropping audition caused some of the biggest names in music to sit up and take notice. Despite what it may seem when watching episodes of The Voice, American Idol and America’s Got Talent, not everyone who auditions makes it onto those programs. Sure, especially in the case of American Idol, a hard-luck, depressing backstory may help your chances of making it on the show. However, the person auditioning must still have an abundance of talent.

This is doubly true for anyone trying out for The Voice because the judges face away from the contestants when they take the stage. Only their voice will cause them to flip their chairs around. One young woman’s powerhouse of a voice while singing a beloved R&B tune caused all four judges to turn their chairs.

Trinity, a 24-year-old from Connecticut, sang En Vogue’s “Don’t Let Go,” which was fantastic! Within seconds of her outstanding and jaw-dropping audition, it became clear that she had been blessed with an angelic voice. But she continued to surprise. Whenever you thought she had reached her ceiling and demonstrated all that her voice was capable of, she did more and more.

The longer her audition went, the better her vocal performance got. She reached for and hit several very high notes, earning her a four-chair turn and high praise from the judges.
While all four judges were thoroughly impressed with Trinity’s audition, Snoop Dogg gave her the biggest compliment when trying to convince her to join his team.

“So, that song is an En Vogue song, and it’s sung with four women,” he said. “The way you held that song down by yourself without all of those backgrounds and ad-libs, that’s strength. That’s power. You remind me of Donna Summer. You just up there looking like a superstar.”

This song is such a timeless classic! ‘Still the One’ was written by Johanna Hall and John Hall, and it was recorded by the soft rock group Orleans on their album Waking and Dreaming, which was released in 1976. The song ended up reaching No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100.

A group of youngsters wowed with their powerful a cappella performance on The Jennifer Hudson Show. Very early in their appearance on the popular program, it's apparent that the children have been blessed greatly with an abundance of musical talent. Everyone has been blessed with a different, unique set of skills and talents. Some people might be good at working with their hands, while others may be skilled speakers, able to captivate a crowd with the spoken word. Some may have more than others, but we all have one or two areas in which we are naturally gifted.

As shows like American Idol, The Voice and America's Got Talent have made it entirely clear, a lot of people believe they are gifted, talented singers. Many of those individuals are correct, while others have been deceived and are incorrect in their musical abilities. Singing is a talent like any other. People either have it or they do not. A clip posted on YouTube shows four little ones who clearly have it.

The youngsters, who call themselves The Brown Four, performed an a cappella rendition of "I'll Take You There," the 1972 classic by The Staple Singers. And it's absolutely fantastic! It's a rendition that you could listen to repeatedly and never tire of it.

Each of the four children has an outstanding voice and incredible range, which they all demonstrate at various points throughout their dazzling performance. Not only are they individually talented, but the four children's harmonies are literally music to the ear. Just when you think they've done everything they can do, they continue to demonstrate their incredible, mind-blowing amount of God-given talent.
