Normally, when we go to games, we stand. We remove our hats. We wait. If we’re honest, we’re a little antsy, ready for tip-off, ready for the game to begin. But then this man opened his mouth. And everything changed.

The arena went still. Conversations stopped mid-sentence. Phones lowered. Parents nudged their kids and whispered, “Listen. Pay attention.” Because this wasn’t background music—it was a moment.

The trio absolutely shines as they bring the 1969 folk classic to life on The Voice. It is an absolutely perfect song choice, as the original is also sung by a trio. Their harmony is flawless.

The group, DEK of Hearts, consists of Dylan John, Emily Clapp, and Kollin Bailey, who have country roots. “Helplessly Hoping” is little known today, but DEK of Hearts gives new life to the song. 

“Wow, wow,” judge Michael Bublé utters, just moments into the song. Meanwhile, judge Reba McEntire watches with a huge grin, and Snoop Dogg says, “Hey, yeah!”

The group’s song is over too soon, and it sounds so smooth that it makes you just want to put it on repeat. They have astounding close harmonies and stick tight to the rhythm. It’s smooth and precise while giving a laid-back feeling. Their cover would certainly make Crosby, Stills, and Nash proud.

The song is about the complexities and difficulties of falling in love. Somehow, DEK of Heart’s version feels even more emotional than the original, perhaps because of the addition of a female voice. Every lyric is sung with melancholy, hope, warmth, and depth.

The band sounds like seasoned professionals. Each member knows exactly when to bring their voice forward and when to blend back into the harmony. This cover is a perfect example of their musical chemistry and skill—that we all get to enjoy.

Joel Jackson displays remarkable talent not just in singing but also in his piano playing in this video. Sitting alone in an empty church, Joel pours out all his praises to God through his “Way Maker” cover. He sings with his whole soul.

Joel sings with conviction and confidence. He sings as if he believes every word he is singing. It makes you want to sing right along, too. 

The song’s original singer and writer, Sinach, said she was inspired by how God called Abram to leave his people. 

“And he took him out to a place where He will show him,” she said. “He didn’t even explain everything.” But God promised Abram that He would make his name known. 

“All that promises, it was just a promise.. but the Bible said Abram believed God and he left his comfort zone,” Sinach said. “That’s when the Lord gave me the song. He said, ‘Oh see, I’m your Waymaker.’”

This is an inspiring and incredible performance that reminds us that God is good. He will keep his promises, and we have no need to doubt Him, the great Way Maker.

This young man’s stunning “I Will Always Love You” cover on The Voice Kids Croatia wins a four-chair turn. The boy is remarkably talented at such a young age. Watch the video to hear his skill. 

It's surprising to hear a young boy sing a Whitney Houston song, especially this one. In general, it’s rare to hear “I Will Always Love You” sung by male vocals at all. But young Leon Jambrek does an astounding job when he sings it. He can perfectly hit all of those complex notes, and he is just as jaw-dropping as Whitney.

About halfway into Leon’s performance, 3 of the judges already have their chairs turned. The last judge waits until the final note before he joins in agreement with the others. Young Leon certainly deserves every praise and attention from the judges. You can tell that he’s worked hard at his performance and is trying his best to control his voice. 

As Leon builds the song toward its final climax, he demonstrates excellent control and maturity. Even though he’s on a big stage in front of a large audience and celebrities, he doesn’t cave into the pressure for a moment. 

It’s wonderful that Croatia has a kids’ program of The Voice. It gives kids like Leon a chance to shine and the opportunity for everyone to hear his remarkable and gifted voice. His technical skill is great, and his incredible performance proves that age isn’t an indicator of talent. He’s a singer to keep an eye out for as he continues to hone his craft.

This The Voice contestant stuns with his unique take on 80s classic “Down Under.” Nick Cunningham completely wows the judges with his guitar lying across his lap. Play the video to hear his unique twist on the song.

Nick has one of those voices that makes you feel like you can just fall into it and let it carry you somewhere else. From the very start of his song, he’s taking you to another plane. He even has some of the audience waving their hands back and forth, and all the judges turn their chairs to get him on their team. 

His song sounds almost completely different than the original; it feels more subtle and unassuming. There is an air of sophistication there, too. It draws out the lyrics in a way that makes you think about their meaning. Some of the song’s words are:

Nick offers gentle beauty to the song through his steady voice, creative guitar playing, and drumming. It is simply a beautiful rendition of Men at Work’s “Down Under.” The song has an entirely different energy than the original 80s classic, but Nick isn’t trying to strip the song completely, but highlight how beautiful it can be when performed like this. He’s just reimagining it in a way that feels lovely and intimate. 

Nick completely mesmerized the judges, and one of them was so immediately impressed that she turned her chair before the first line was even finished. And when Nick sings that last note, the crowd erupts, knowing that they got to experience something very unique. Nick proves that people can still love and connect with something familiar, even when it’s presented in a wholly new way.

This incredible new cover of ‘(Sittin’ On) The Dock of the Bay’ will have you floating towards Christmas break in no time. There are days in December when time doesn’t walk—it sprints. The young man’s take on a tune known and beloved by many literally caused some of the biggest names in music to sit up and take notice. Musical covers have likely been happening since music first came into existence. So, they have been going on for quite some time, a time-honored tradition going back hundreds, possibly thousands of years. Since that is the case, I’d venture to say that covers are not going anywhere, at least for the foreseeable future.

Even though covers are likely to be here for a long time, that doesn’t mean they have to, or even should, be clones or carbon copies of the original. No one wants that, and if that is the case, we’ll just listen to the original, as it’s likely to be better anyway. The point being, that covers should come with some new twist, something that helps it stand out from the original.

That was precisely what one young man did when he took the stage to sing Otis Redding’s classic “(Sittin’ On) The Dock of the Bay.” That, in my opinion, is one of the best songs of all time, and so doing that tune justice will always be a high mark, a tall task. However, this teenager did just that, adding an unexpected element to his performance to make the song his own.

About halfway through the song, the young man started rapping. It was at that point that the judges began turning their chairs. They recognized the talent and musical gift this young man was blessed with and knew they wanted to add him to their team.

Later, after his performance, the teenager confessed that he had actually written the verse he rapped and had been writing lyrics for quite some time.

You can tell that they love what they do and are genuinely enjoying themselves, as well as their camaraderie. There is a bright, colorful energy that hums through their tight harmonies. The song has a slightly fresh twist but still feels like a fun romp through the '60s. 

There’s a lot of joy here, and it reminds you why everyone loves a cappella. It’s a group effort more than anything, and when done well, it’s like opening a gift. And what a lovely gift it is! These young men are going places.

There’s something about music—how it cuts right through the noise in our minds and settles into the quiet places inside us. This must hear Kelly Clarkson classic gets a beautiful cover that you’ll want to share with your friends because they nailed it. Why might you ask? Because long before we can name what we’re feeling, music captures it. It’s as if songs wrap words around emotions we have carried for years.

What I love about this session is that they didn’t try to reinvent a classic—they had fun with it. It allowed the listener like myself to not only hear, but to remember what I felt when I first heard the song so many years ago. 

And somehow, after listening, you feel lighter—not because the song erased anything, but because it reminded you that music has always carried us through what words alone could not.

When you have a moment, listen for yourself. Turn up the volume, close your eyes, and just let the melody find you again.

She is completely unbothered by the busy bustle around her as she just slips into her music. She’s completely locked into the emotion of the moment. Zoe sings as though she’s singing the song to someone, delivering lyrics from her soul. 

You almost have to wonder if she’s had an experience that relates to the song. It is certain that nothing about her art is flashy in any way, but it is completely beautiful and show-stopping nonetheless. She is the opposite of dramatic; she is sincere. And it is simply impossible not to notice her talent. 

All in all, this is one of those striking performances that sticks in your heart long after you’ve heard it. It brims with genuine, heartfelt emotion. So, if you find that this song has stopped you in your tracks and struck a chord in you, then just let it.

Because of a connective tissue disorder, she ended up losing all her hearing when she was 18 years old, but she refused to give up on her love of music. And the way that she found her way back to singing is truly inspiring.

“I left music after I lost my hearing, and then I figured out how to get back into singing with muscle memory using visual tuners and trusting my pitch,” she said. Mandy also performs on stage with her shoes off, allowing her to feel the tempo and beat through the floor. How amazing!

The song that Mandy sings is an original one called ‘Try.’ And she shared with the judges what the song means to her. “After I lost my hearing, I gave up. But I want to do more with my life than just give up,” she said.

Mandy starts to play her song, and the whole performance is just incredible! From her wonderful voice to the beautiful lyrics, the emotional performance left everyone in awe.

“Mandy, I don’t think you’re going to need a translator for this,” Simon Cowell says to her as he presses the golden buzzer. As the gold confetti falls down all around her, Mandy cannot believe what is happening! Her dad comes out on stage and embraces her as she celebrates her big win!

“Honestly, I never think I’m going to be surprised or amazed by people, and then you turn up,” shared Simon. “I mean, just the fact that you are you, but it was your voice, your tone, the song was beautiful. Congratulations! You are straight through to the live shows.”
