Franklin Graham Shares Gospel at Lindsey Graham's Funeral, Says Death 'Is Not the End'

Evangelist Franklin Graham used a moment during the late Sen. Lindsey Graham’s funeral on Tuesday to share the gospel with the audience and viewers, reminding them that death is not the end for those who place their faith in Christ.

The president and CEO of Samaritan’s Purse and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association read from Scripture during the late senator’s funeral, but also turned the focus to Jesus, emphasizing the hope of eternal life.

Lindsey Graham died earlier this month at the age of 71. A funeral service was held in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, while he will be laid to rest on Wednesday in South Carolina.

Despite sharing the same last name, the two men are not related.

“Many people don't want to talk about death because death means the end, a step into darkness,” Franklin Graham began. “But for those that have been to the foot of the cross in repentance, believing in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ is not the end – it's the beginning of a brand new life, a beginning of eternity in the presence of Almighty God.”

The evangelist then read a passage from Revelation 21 that he said, “gives us a little glimpse as to what is coming for those that have put their faith and trust in Jesus Christ.”

“I saw the holy city,” he read, “the New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, ‘See, the home of God is among men. He will dwell with them as their God. They'll be His people, and God Himself will be with them. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more. Mourning and crying and pain will be no more, for the first things have passed away.’

“And the One who was seated on the throne said: ‘See, I'm making all things new.’ Also, he said, ‘Write this, for these words are trustworthy and true.’ Then He said to me, ‘It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty, I will give water as a gift from the spring of the water of life.’ Those who conquer will inherit these things, and I will be their God, and they will be my children.”
