What happens when the faith you’ve been taught runs headfirst into the pain of real life?
On today’s show, Steve tackles the growing conversation around deconstructing Christianity and asks an important question: Are people really abandoning Jesus—or are some struggling with a version of faith that couldn’t withstand suffering, disappointment, unanswered questions, and the failures of other Christians?
Then pastor, author, evangelist and speaker Brady Weldon joins Steve for a powerful conversation about moving from deconstruction to reconstruction. Brady explains why pain has a way of testing our theology, why questioning what you were taught isn’t necessarily the same as questioning Scripture, and why Christians need to create safe places for hurting people to wrestle honestly with difficult questions.
They also discuss church hurt, addiction, divorce, grief, disappointment with God and the difference between being hurt by people who represent Jesus and rejecting Jesus Himself. Sometimes the most helpful thing we can offer someone isn’t a quick theological answer—it’s simply sitting beside them in the wreckage and pointing them back to Christ.
