The Defense of Freedom and the Constitution

rcthehistorybuff.com Did you know that the length of the average constitution in the world is only 17 years? America's Constitution is 239 years old in 2026. The Declaration of Independence gave us an extraordinary platform on which to build the Constitution. It stated that all people are created equal and endowed by their Creator with certain God-given, unalienable rights, fundamental, inherent human rights that cannot be surrendered, sold, or taken away by man or government.

Declaration of Independence

rcthehistorybuff.com The first Great Awakening started while we were still just colonies, and the others after we had become the United States of America. We will look at the causes of each awakening and the people who were preaching the awakening messages. We will hear the words of George Whitefield, Benjamin Franklin, Charles Finney, Dwight L. Moody, and then sermons from later preachers like Billy Graham, Martin Luther King, Chuck Smith, and finally, Charlie Kirk. Kirk surely was not a preacher, but he brought a great religious message in his time.Welcome to another RC the History Buff talk. Thank you for being here. Today's talk is on the people, places, and events surrounding the Declaration of Independence. Ben Franklin is with us in spirit and in words. Among the nations of the world, the United States of America is the oldest continuous country based on a written, codified constitution. This means, it is written into law and cannot be changed except by specified methods in the Constitution. July 4, 2026, celebrated the 250th anniversary of our declared independence. That was something to celebrate.
