Praying Through Psalm 20: Our Secret Weapon To Defeat the Enemy

Don't forget to grab your free scripture journal at https://prayingchristianwomen.com/journal today!

What happens when we stop praying small, safe prayers and start stepping into our true authority in spiritual warfare?

In this episode of the Praying Christian Women podcast, Jaime leads us through the short but incredibly powerful Psalm 20. While it reads as a beautiful prayer for deliverance, Jaime highlights that it’s actually a bold declaration of the victory that is already ours. She reminds us that we don't have to fight for our spiritual territory; because of Jesus, we are simply claiming the ground He has already won!

Jaime also unpacks a fascinating historical detail about the "Helmet of Salvation" from Ephesians 6. Did you know ancient Roman helmets featured a feathered crest or plume (called a Crista) used both to declare their identity and to intimidate their enemies? She explains how our salvation acts as a spiritual plume—declaring our absolute identity in Christ and terrifying the forces of darkness before the battle even begins.

Whether you are feeling powerless against a specific struggle, tempted to boast in your own human strength, or simply need a reminder to pray boldly for the people you love, we hope this episode encourages you to put on your helmet, silence the enemy's lies, and boast in the name of the Lord!

This isn't about ignoring serious harm or pretending every marriage problem is small. It's about asking God to shape the way we love, speak, serve, and respond within a healthy marriage.

A Prayer for When You Need God to Guard Your Words

Have you ever said something in anger, frustration, or gossip and immediately wished you could take it back?

Psalm 141:3 records David's prayer: “Set a guard over my mouth, Lord; keep watch over the door of my lips.”

In today's Your Daily Prayer, Whitney Hopler reflects on why wise speech starts deeper than simply choosing better words. Our speech often reveals what's happening in our hearts.

This prayer asks the Holy Spirit for self-control, discernment, kindness, and wisdom before we speak, text, comment, or respond.

Heartwarming First Meeting Between 101-Year-Old And His Great-Great-Granddaughter

Get ready for the tissues and happy tears. See this heartwarming first meeting between a 101-year-old and his great-great-granddaughter.

At the start of this video, an elderly man is seated in a rocking chair with a blindfold around his eyes. A man and his wife are seen next to him with a newborn baby in her arms. Everyone is excited, and flashes of pictures being taken shine in from the background. The caption reveals that Lex, the mother, never thought that she would get to see the day when her grandfather, Dewey, met her baby girl, Millie.

The husband removes the blindfold, and they tell the great-grandfather that the baby is over to the right. He turns and says, “Sweetie, what in the world are you doing?” Everyone laughs. He touches his great-granddaughter for the first time. He gives her the most precious kiss and celebrates getting to

meet her. The mother passes the baby to the patriarch, and he holds this new life.

The Power of Family in Our Life

Dewey becomes overwhelmed with emotions as he holds the baby and tears up. He is so sweet, talking to the baby girl as she cries, and the proud parents help him to hold her. It is an incredible moment that many people never experience, to have four generations in one room.

Seeing this clip will remind us of the gift of family. God has blessed us with the generations, and we can celebrate what He does to faithfully continue family lines into future generations. Watching this man experience holding his great-granddaughter is an unforgettable moment, and we are blessed to get a glimpse of it. Be in awe and imagine being in this special moment with this adorable family.

“We will not hide them from their descendants; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done.” Psalm 78:4

Wallet Lost More than 60 Years Ago Returned To Family

Check out this amazing story of a wallet lost more than 60 years ago, finally returned to the family it belongs to. With luck and social media on their side, the people who found the lost wallet were able to locate who exactly it belonged to and return it.

The extraordinary story starts inside an old movie theater, with owners Chris and Nicole Escobar.

“We discovered a little piece of the wall fell out right here in this corner, and then we saw this space behind the wall that no one knew about,” shared Chris Escobar.

Chris looked into the dusty space and found an old wallet filled with memories. What a special find!

“This wallet was really a time capsule. It was chock-full of everything from receipts and insurance cards and library cards,” explained Chris.

Finding the Owner

All the cards pointed to the owner of the wallet – a Mrs. Roy Culbreth. She had lost her wallet at the movie theater in 1958 while on a date with her husband.

“I immediately did a Google search and was able to find Roy Culbreth’s obituary, and from there we were able to find out that his wife’s name was Floy, which was so adorable, Roy and Floy,” said Nicole Escobar.

Chris went on and shared how they were able to locate the family to give them back the wallet.

“Went to social media, we’re able to actually get in touch with them, and share some photos so that it was not like, ‘Hey, this is a weird thing, but here, we think we found something that belongs to your family,” said Chris.

Floy Culbreth died in 2005 at age 87, but her family was so happy to be reunited with the lost wallet.

“Opening up the contents and just absolutely seeing so much of Mother in there was overwhelming,” shared Thea, the daughter of Floy. “I mean, it was her library card - she loved to read - and I remember as a little girl going to the library with Mother. It’s brought so many memories back that we haven’t thought about in so long.”

What a gift it has been to Floy’s family, to have her wallet, lost more than 60 years ago and filled with memories of her, back in their possession.

A Prayer for Single-Hearted Focus in a Busy Season | Your Daily Prayer

Can you stay focused on God when your schedule is overflowing?

In Luke 10:41-42, Jesus tells Martha that she is “worried and upset about many things.” Her responsibilities weren't necessarily wrong, but the many things demanding her attention had distracted her from the one thing that mattered most.

In today's Your Daily Prayer, Rachel Wojo shares how to protect your heart in a busy season, prioritize people over projects, and return your scattered attention to Jesus.

A Prayer for Single-Hearted Focus in a Busy Season

Sometimes the problem isn't that we're doing bad things.

We're doing too many good things at once.

Work needs us. Family needs us. The texts keep coming. The calendar keeps filling. And somewhere between completing the next task and answering the next notification, we can become so busy serving that we forget to simply be with Jesus.

Martha's problem wasn't that she didn't care. Jesus said she was “worried and upset about many things.”

If your attention feels pulled in a million directions today, maybe you don't need a better productivity system.

Maybe your heart needs somewhere to land.

When You Feel Like You Should Be Further Along by Now

Growth takes time.

Based on Psalm 92:13-14, this Your Nightly Prayer devotional reminds us that God is not impatient with our spiritual growth. He calls us to remain planted in Him, trust the process, and believe that fruit can continue developing in every season of life.

Beginning October in God's Peace | Your Nightly Prayer

October can bring beautiful things—cooler evenings, changing leaves, and a new season—but it can also bring new worries about finances, family, health, schedules, and the holidays ahead.

In this Your Nightly Prayer devotional, Michelle Treacy reflects on Isaiah 26:3 and what it means to have a steadfast mind anchored in God.

What does Isaiah 26:3 teach about peace? Biblical peace isn't dependent on having a predictable month ahead. Isaiah connects peace with trusting God and continually returning our thoughts to Him.

Before you carry tomorrow's worries into tonight, take a few quiet moments to pray and begin October resting in God's peace.

A Prayer for Making Minutes Matter | Your Daily Prayer

What does the Bible say about using our time wisely?

Ephesians 5:15-16 encourages Christians to live carefully and make the most of every opportunity. But biblical stewardship of time doesn't mean filling every moment with productivity.

In this Your Daily Prayer devotional, Tammy Darling reflects on the ordinary minutes that shape our relationships, habits, rest, obedience, and walk with God.

Pray for wisdom to recognize what deserves your time—and for grace to use the time God has given you intentionally.

Ending September with Steady Hope | Your Nightly Prayer

Maybe September brought both gratitude and disappointment, growth and exhaustion, answered prayers and unfinished business.

Based on Isaiah 26:4, this Your Nightly Prayer reminds us that our hope is not anchored to how well the month went. God is our eternal Rock. Release what September held and move into October trusting His unchanging character.
