Do you ever wonder whether you're doing enough as a homeschool parent?

Teaching your own children can bring beautiful opportunities for connection, but it can also expose impatience, discouragement, resistance, and the fear that you're getting something wrong.

In today's Your Daily Prayer, Emily Rose Massey reflects on 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 and the reminder that God is faithful to continue His work in His people.

For families who homeschool, even difficult school days can become opportunities to practice patience, perseverance, forgiveness, grace, and dependence on God.

Former American Idol contestant and worship singer Danny Gokey and his team surprise a charitable organization with a new van and other gifts, and it is such a blessing. His generosity is surely much appreciated. Watch the video to see the gift.

The organization, called Clothed by Faith, collects and donates clothing, essential items, and shoes for children and adults in need. In addition to a brand new cargo van with a shiny red bow, Danny and his team also created an Amazon wishlist for the organization, which many people contributed to. 

Danny was able to bring them hundreds of items that people had ordered for them. 

“It felt like Christmas all over again, having all the volunteers and my ministry team helping open all

these gifts!” Danny said. And “to say they were ecstatic [about the van] would be an understatement!” 

The Power of Blessing Others

After Danny gifted them the van, he and his team prayed with the non-profit that the vehicle would help them in their mission as they bless family after family. Clothed by Faith started after Abi Fourie, a daughter from an immigrant family, felt called to help others. She grew up in poverty and wanted to help others who had similar experiences. 

In the video, Danny uses his song, “I Got You," as a background message. Some of the song’s lyrics are:

In the joy, in the pain, in the waiting (In the waiting)

In the flood, in the fire, in the breaking (Oh)

I'm standing on You (Standing on You), so I won't be moved (I won't be moved)

It is so wonderful that Danny is able to bless another ministry like this. He shares the Gospel and sings the Gospel and always shares hope with others. It is great that he’s assisting people practically, too. We know the ministry appreciates it, and the people that they help do too.

There are two teenagers who used kindness to make a difference in the world, and it’s a wonderful thing. These two boys have beautiful hearts. Watch the video to see their love for others. 

The two boys, best friends James Jansen and Krish Reddy, have been involved in a nonprofit, Kids for Peace, since they were little, just 8 years old. They’re now 15 and have known each other since they were in pre-K. They do everything together—including spreading love and kindness.

They’re leaders in the organization, which partners with children in many countries, to make the world a better place. 

It is so sweet to see two teen boys working hard to make a difference. They aren’t out sitting at home, addicted to their phones, or smoking things they shouldn't—they are making a difference in people’s lives. They spend their afternoons with senior citizens, making kindness posters and fundraising to build schools in places like Kenya. 

What Drives Them to Make a Difference

"We're all connected, and at the end of the day, all of us are living in the same world, and we all need each other,” Krish said. 

James said, "It doesn't have to be a grand gesture every time, when I really think, it's the small things that will end up making a difference in the world.”

The boys lead a back-to-school drive for the students at the school in Kenya, which they plan to visit soon. Kids for Peace also helped achieve the Guinness World Record for the biggest collage of handprints. It also recognizes companies that foster kindness and make positive differences in the world. 

It is an incredible thing that these boys and other kids would choose to spend their time helping others. If more parents helped get their children involved in things like this, then maybe the world would be a better place.

A mother's love inspires a major career change after her son was born with a heart condition, and it is so inspiring. She decided that she wanted to help others after she saw how doctors and nurses cared for him. Watch the video to hear her incredible story.

Calley Burnett and her son Spencer’s story is so heart-touching. Spencer was born with a congenital heart defect, and it was a scary first couple of years as a parent. 

“I didn't have the medical backgrounds that I have now,” Calley said. “So I honestly had no idea the severity of it until one of the cardiologists came into the room that night, and he literally drew the anatomy of a heart and what Spencer’s was doing, and that's when I knew that we were in a pretty serious situation with him.”

When he was just one week old, he had a closed-heart surgery. He had to stay at the hospital for another 6 weeks before his parents could take him home. A year later, he would have major open-heart surgery. The nurses always made an impact on Calley, and the experience made her want to be like them.

A Mother's Difficult Journey Reveals God's Greater Purpose

So she decided to pursue nursing. She studied it for over two years and says it was well worth the wait. Now, she is a nurse at the same hospital where Spencer was born. 

“Nursing school is tough, and it's tough trying to get your degree as a mom,” she said. “It was a lot of tears, a lot of happiness.” But, “I just think that I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be.”

She believes that she went through everything she did with Spencer because she was meant to be a nurse, and God now has her right where he wants her. 

It’s a joy that God has led her to this path!

Infamous Rhode Island judge Frank Caprio had some powerful insights on how to make a lasting impact on someone's life. He was known all over the US as the kindest judge around, and this is why. 

He said in a YouTube video, “People think you have to do something dramatic, you know, like make a big gesture. But you can give someone $1 million, and you may not change them. But if you put your hand on their shoulder and tell them that you believe in them, you may change their life.”

Frank will never forget the cold day when he was a little boy of 10, and his father told him how to be kind. His own father put his hand on his shoulder and told him that he talks very well and that he would be a lawyer who wouldn’t charge poor people.

“And we never did in this law office,” Caprio said.

Sadly, Caprio died in 2025 from a battle with pancreatic cancer. But his legacy lives on through his legendary acts of kindness and videos like this one. 

A Father's Kindness Inspires a Lifetime of Compassion

It’s wonderful that his father had so much confidence in him and set a great example for him. He had a huge influence in helping so many people through Frank. 

A son of Italian immigrants, Frank was always hard-working. One of his first jobs as a boy growing up in the 40s was shining shoes. Then, it was delivering newspapers and working on a milk truck. 

In addition to being known as the “nicest judge in the world,” he was also a charitable philanthropist. He created scholarships at Providence College and Central High School in Rhode Island and Suffolk University in Boston. 

It’s always great to hear his wisdom. He is so missed in his community and all over the world.

It is always amazing to see external displays of love for children. Watch as this father pours out his love for his daughter’s birthday. Check out this dad's jaw-dropping birthday cake creation for his daughter, which has gone viral.

At the start of this clip, you see a father in a kitchen with a doll, funfetti cake mix, and a shirt that says, “Girl Dad” on it. He has a caption that reads, “POV (Point of View): You’re a dad, and the bakery said they couldn’t make the cake your daughter wanted…” You see him mixing batter and pouring it into four different pans. He pulls the finished cakes out of the oven and begins to make cute circles in the middle of each one. He then stacks them on top of one another. 

A Father's Creativity Becomes an Unforgettable Gift of Love

The Father takes the doll and uses painter's tape around her to keep her arms up how he would like them to go. He begins to lather on thick store-bought icing around the cake. He gets out his cake spatula and smooths out the edges. He begins to make beautiful pink curves on the dress with red flowers and sprinkles. Your breath will be taken away when he removes the painter's tape, only to unveil that the doll has a tutu, and it comes out perfectly over the dress of the cake. 

He has taken his love for his daughter and his own creativity to make his daughter’s birthday memorable. Watching this video will inspire creativity in our own situations when things do not work out as we anticipate. May we always remember the great love that God the Father has for us. This father’s earthly loves cannot even compare to the love of our Father in Heaven.

“As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him.” Psalm 103:13
